The medical examiner Dr. Aurileo Espinola of Guam concluded that Nae Deok Kim, a 40-year old Korean tourist, did not get killed by the shark's bites but drowned in the process. Although part of the intestines were missed, including the left arm, and both legs, bleeding was noticed, indicating a drowning. However it remains unclear if the shark first bit the person which then drowned and the shark then bit the victim again (post mortem). The body was found by two fishermen off of Asan Beach floating in the water.
