Luke Allan was surfing with some friends at Kylie’s Beach, south of Port Macquarie, when a shark bit off his index finger. He was about 50m from the shore when it happened. Allen could make it back to the beach on his own. The bleeding was stopped until paramedics arrived. It was suspected that a bull shark was involved but the species has not been confirmed.
