It happened on July 27 20 yards off of Bailey Island, Maine where Julie Holowach went for a swim and got fatally injured by a white shark (identification occurred trough a partial tooth found in the wounds) at around 4pm. Ms Holowach was swimming with her daughter who was not injured. Two kajakers grabbed her and brought her to the beach. She was declared dead at the scene. It was the first fatal incident in Maine.
